How our editing is different.
At PaperWild, our editing process takes a supportive and collaborative approach, where our editors work closely with you to elevate your manuscript to its best possible state.
Many "budget" services use automated software or AI to "fix" your prose, often stripping away the very personality that makes your writing unique.
Our promise to you is that we will never use AI in any aspect of creating or developing your book. Every manuscript we work with is handled by a human editor who understands your specific genre, and who will give you comments and suggestions on pacing, character development, sentence structure and tension.
Each stage of editing will be handled by a professional specialising in that area. You can choose to book any or all of the editing stages with us, and for each stage, you will have a separate editor for the developmental edit, the line/copy edit, and the proofread, giving your book the strength of having multiple professionals working on it.
The goal of our editing is always to maintain your voice while giving you suggestions on how to resonate more strongly with readers. We will never change your voice or take away the essence of your soul in your writing.
Our 3-Stage Edit

Developmental Edit
The big picture - plot, pacing, character development, voice, and overall themes. Your editor will make comments on specific moments as well as provide a full written editorial report providing big picture feedback on your manuscript.
2.
Line & Copy Edit
Your editor will go through and make comments & suggestions to improve the language, tone, readability and flow of specific sentences. These suggestions will always be done with care to improve flow and readability while ensuring your voice is maintained.
3.
Final Proofread
When you are happy with the final content and flow of your book, we will complete a final thorough proofread to check for any typos, spelling mistakes, grammar and punctuation issues. This step is always the bare minimum essential in any of our packages, as it is so crucial to the readability and professionalism of your book.
Editing Style Match Promise
We will always do our best to match you with the best suited editor on our team to give you the most relevant feedback for your genre and writing style, however it is also important for you to feel that your editor understands you and your work. Because of this, we will always provide you with a free sample edit of up to 2,000 words on a developmental edit, and up to 1,000 words on the line/copy edit, to make sure that you are happy with your editor's style and viewpoint. If for any reason you feel it is not a good match, just let us know and we will arrange a sample with a different editor until we find one that is perfect for you.

At PaperWild, we have a hand-selected and thoroughly vetted team of over 100 beta readers across a wide range of genres who love supporting indie authors and giving feedback on early stage works in progress.
When you book a beta reader through us, we will select readers who love your genre, send them your manuscript via a BookFunnel download link, and provide them a questionnaire consisting of standard questions on plot, theme and character, as well as an additional section for you to ask any specific questions of your own. Each beta reader will provide a minimum of 2 pages written feedback on your manuscript. Most readers will also leave in-line comments and reactions throughout the text as they read.
